Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

Each one of the surface burner valves has a spark igniter switch positioned over the stem of the burner valves. The 4 switches are connected in series in a parallel circuit to the spark module. Whenever anyone burner it rotated to the lite positions, all 4 electrodes will jump spark between the electrode and the grounded burner. Since none of the spark electrodes will spark when any burner is turned on, I suspect it could have a disconnected wire in the ignition circuit or the spark module is faulty.

The voltage supply to the spark module will need to be measured across the Red and White wire when the burner is rotated to the lite position. If 120 volts is measured and the electrodes are not sparking, the spark module is faulty and it will need to be replaced.  NOTE: I do not recommend measuring the voltage supply to the spark module unless you have experience and feel safe and confident in doing so; otherwise I recommend calling a service technician to diagnose and repair your range.

The spark module is located behind the control panel. You will need to remove the cover from behind the control panel where the clock/electronic oven control is located. The spark module will have a red, white and likely two black wires connected to it. The red wire is the line voltage and the white is neutral. The black wire will lead to the spark igniter switches located on top of each one of the gas surface burners. All 4 switches come as one assembly.

I hope this is helpful. If I may be of further assistance as more details become available, please reply to this post.

I posted an image below that should help you lift and remove that stove top. Unplug the range and shut off the gas supply before beginning that repair. Remove the grates, burner caps and burner heads. Remove the mounting screws that are on the orifice assemblies as shown below. You can then release the front clips and remove the stove top.

If you need more help, reply with additional details and we will assist you further.

If you get to the point where you need to have a service technician replace that stove top, you can schedule service through this link: Sears Home Services .

Q:

Why did my Kenmore oven quit heating?

A:

I do not have enough details to know if the oven glow bar igniter is glowing red or not. If the Bake igniter is glowing but the oven Bake burner never ignites would indicate a weak Bake igniter and it would need to be replaced.

If the Bake igniter is not glowing any at all could indicate a failed:

  • Failed Bake igniter
  • Failed Electronic Oven Control
  • Loose wire connection
  • Failed oven safety gas valve

I recommend calling a service technician to diagnose and repair your oven.
