I am confused on how the new ignitor is wired through the valve. I there a picture. I can see by the diagram it needs to be hooked to the valve.

So before the oven would not light but the broiler would. I thought it was the ignitor. I changed the ignitor and now neither work. I wired the insulated wires together. When I looked there is an open terminal on the safety valve. Now the oven ignitor works. No gas comes out and the broiler ignitor is not working at all and the safety valve won't release gas. I am not sure how changing the ignitor would cause this to happen.

Q:

How do i install the front glass of my Kenmore model 790.97476790, part number 316089004

A:

Glass top ranges are beautiful and if you have to replace the glass top, you do want good instructions so you only have to do it once. I found a previous expert post with instructions that may help you get started. I attached the link below. Hope this helps!

To replace the outer glass on the oven door, you will first need to remove the door from the oven. The second image below shows the procedure to remove the oven door from the range. The first image shows the parts breakdown of the door. Once you get the door off, you will need to remove the screws (Key 10) that secure the handle to the front of the door. You will also need to remove the screws that secure the oven door liner (Key 9) to the front trim (Key 3). You will need to rely on the parts list diagram and your personal examination to remove the screws that will release the trim so that you can replace the glass. Make sure that you securely fasten the door components back together properly.

This information should help you replace the door glass.

This is not an easy repair for most people. If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .

If you need more help, reply with additional details and we will assist you further.

Thank you Lyle the expert for the answer to my front glass installation question on my kenmore model # 79075716893 Part # 316089004 which I bought from searspartsdirect.com. I need to know, though is that the right part and if so is that the only part I need ? Please clarify. I am referring that that diagram you attached from the searspartsdirect.com website (above) Susan

Hello Susan. That part number 316089004 is the almond (off-white) color for that outer oven door glass. The range in that picture appears to be white. The white color of outer oven door glass is no longer available. It does not appear that the outer oven door glass on that range is broken but I could just be missing it. If that outer oven door glass is the one that needs to be replaced then you should just need that part if you are okay with that almond color instead of white (if the range is actually white). I hope that this information helps. If you need more assistance, reply with additional details and we will try to help you further.

Thank you Lyle. The range is almond. and you're right and also you're seeing the picture with the new glass in it. That's why I'm asking if I need another part. See the gap across the top. Another expert was nice enough to answer saying that I need item 52 on the diagram from searspartsdirect.com. Do you agree? again it's model # 79075716893 Kenmore.

That appears to be correct. That almond color of item 52 does not appear to be available. You may be able to use the black or white color of that component. If you need more help, let us know.

Thank you Marc H. for your respnose and your help. I am asking, though, about the glass on the oven door and not the glass on the burner top. I think that's what they were talking about on the link you provided. The glass in in there but there is a gap at the top. I think I need an additional part. Susan

A:

Item 52 in the parts diagram (oven door shield) should mount above the glass. It might have fallen off when the glass broke or maybe was put aside and not installed with the new glass.

This is the part you need to fill the gap above the glass. Good luck.
