Check the broiler element to see if it is igniting properly. If it is, then you could have a weak igniter as described in that link for a previous answer that James R. provided in the above response. You could also have a spill on the bake burner. I recommend that you unplug the range and remove bottom oven panel to inspect that burner. You will also need to remove the flame spreader. Look for a spill or residue on the burner ports around that igniter. Carefully clean that burner if necessary. If you see not problems with the burner, then you may need to replace that igniter.

I recommend that you have a service technician examine the range and repair it for this ignition problem. Here is a link for the Sears Service website: Sears Home Services .

If you are confident in your technical abilities and want to fix this problem yourself, then you may be able to resolve this problem by replacing that igniter yourself. The part number for the bake burner igniter is 5303935066. You can order that part from the Sears PartsDirect website. Unplug the range before accessing internal components and replacing that igniter. Be sure that it is mounted properly. It should be positioned in that same manner as the original igniter.

If you need more help, reply with additional details and we will assist you further.

Q:

Why is the oven not working on my Kenmore range?

A:

Open the oven door & remove the bottom panel. Start the oven & look for the glow of the bake igniter, if you can see the glow of the bake igniter & the burner is not lighting, this could indicate a bad igniter or bad gas valve. If the igniter glow is not seen, further diagnosing will require using a multimeter & amp probe to find the root cause of why your oven won’t ignite.
