Question and Answers

Q:

How to calibrate oven temperature? 79071513401 Kenmore Gas range

A:

Thank you for choosing Sears Parts Direct. I can certainly assist you in locating the instructions to calibrate the oven temperature for your range. I did look into the model number you have provided, and I have found information for you.

The probe scale is:
75±2.5 should be a resistance of 1091‡5.3.

If less than 500 ohms then it needs to be replaced.

To calibrate your oven you will need to set the control for normal baking at 350 degrees F. Obtain an average oven temperature after a minimum of 5 cycles. Press cancel or clear to end bake mode.

If that does not work then you will need to do further tests.

You can also visit searpartsdirect.com for parts, diagrams, and repair information.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .

Thank you for your question. Have a great day.

Q:

How do I convert a stove from natural gas to lp gas?

A:

Converting a range from natural gas to lp should be done by a qualified and licensed lp technician. Lp gas is very dangerous and small leaks seek the lowest level and pool up. This can lead to a serious explosion.

I recommend you contact your lp gas supplier and get a technician to convert the range.

A:

my conversion kits came with no instructions either. My LP company worked for two hours and walked away, unable to figure it out. So I called the Sears store, who sent the person they recommend. He walked away because there were no instructions. The issue seemsbe be that the jets that go down into the orafice are 7 mm. But three of the five holes are less than 7 mm. Also the manual specifically says that you can't remove the burners and lift the cook top. So I have a stove and no installation. You should know that this is following a six week fiasco getting my stove delivered. I'm a tad frustrated.
