The F31 code indicates a shorted oven temperature sensor probe on this model of range. Barbara H provided a previous answer that describes troubleshooting for this type of problem. Most of the time, you will need to replace the oven temperature sensor probe to correct this type of problem. If you look inside the oven and see the probe mounted on the back inside wall of the oven cavity as shown in the image below, then you can access it and check it from the front of the range as shown. Be sure that you unplug the range before accessing internal components. If you do not see mounting screws inside the oven cavity then you will need to unplug the range and remove the lower back panel to access the oven probe wire harness plug. The probe has violet wires going to it. If the probe measures around 1100 ohms of resistance then it should be okay. You can check the circuit from the electronic control board (through the violet wires) by removing the upper back panel (with the range still unplugged). This should help you fix this problem on your own. If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .
