Thank you for contacting ManageMyLife.com with your question about your Kenmore Gas Range. I am so sorry to hear it has the wrong brackets on it. I understand your concern about getting the correct parts installed on your range. I will be happy to help you with this.

I would like some additional information to find the best solution to your problem. I am not sure what photos you refered to in your question. When you say there is a gap between the front of the stove and the board, are we talking about behind the control knobs and in front of the surface burners? Or between the surface burners and the backguard where the clock is located?

You mentioned that the range was shipped with the wrong brackets. Does this mean it is a new purchase? And if so, did you purchase it from Sears? If it is new then the repairs should be completed under your warranty. That way there is no cost to you. You also mentioned that the parts needed are no longer available. Normally that means the model is a few years old. If the range is in warranty and cannot be repaired, then our warranty department would assist you with a replacement for it.

If the product is out of warranty, you will have to option of completing the repair yourself or having a technician doing it for you. However, in this case, if the parts are no longer available, it means it is time to replace the product. I have included the link for you to view the parts diagrams online. If you can identify the parts that need to be replaced, I will be able to see if they are available. Also, do the brackets that came with the range have part numbers on them? If so, I will need those numbers to compare against the part numbers that should have been on the range.

The stove was purchased in 2010 but the kitchen remodel was not completed until last month. The front control bracket issue was noticed when the stove was installed. Yes, it is out of warranty. The brackets hold the control panel with the clock and oven control. The only label on the brackets is the letter A and that label is on both brackets. We have repositioned these brackets but there is no way to position them attached to the control and have it flush against the blackguard .

When the diagram is pulled up the brackets that hold the control part #20 on the diagram are not shown. Parts #15 shown are on the sides of the stove where they screw into the panel.

Thank you for the quick response. And for the photos. I can see the gap you are talking about. I believe the issue is that the brackets are bolted to the control panel upside down. Instead of bracing the control panel away from the opening, they are actually supposed to push it into it. They are intended to hold the control panel firmly into the opening so dirt and food splatter cannot get behind the clock.

I hope this answers your question. Please let me know if this resolves the issue. If not, I will be happy to do some more research on this for you. Thank you again for using our SearsPartsDirect.com Service.

When you reverse the brackets the control panel can not be mounted. We have turned them every direction possible but they don 't work. The range looked exactly as it does in the photo when unpacked. Other ranges show these brackets when you pull them up on the Sears Partsdirect site but if you enter in our model number the brackets are not shown. We just returned from Sears and ordered the brackets from a newer model range to see if they can be fitted to the stove. If they don't work we are out the $11.00 shipping fee. How can we find a set of brackets that will work?

Thank you for your quick response. I am sorry this continues to be an issue. I want to help you get it resolved. You mentioned that you see other models that have this part in the diagram. Can you please give me a model number to look at? Also, what model number did you order the brackets from? Do you have the part number that you ordered? If you can get me this information I will be able to complete a couple of more searches for you. I look forward to your reply. Thank you again for choosing Sears.

We ordered part # 316441501 which is the bracket that was listed in the part diagram for an electric range that had a similar looking control panel. After we ordered that part we saw another diagram for a gas range that showed the bracket as part #316441500 so if the first one doesn't work we will try the second one we found.
