Q:

atou oven igniter luminates burner does not light up however top ranges do. Is the gas line to oven clogged or is the igniter faulty (is it hot eogh to light? 79071202701 Kenmore Gas range

A:

Thank you for choosing Sears Parts Direct. I can certainly understand how frustrating it can be when your oven will not ignite. I did look into the model number you have provided and I have found information that will assist you.
I do see here if your igniter glows but does not get hot enough it will not alow the gas valve to open.

Most gas ovens have a glow-bar oven igniter and a safety gas valve. Those components are connected in a series-type electrical circuit. When the glow-bar oven igniter is hot enough to safely ignite the gas, the safety gas valve opens. Replace the oven igniter if doesn't glow, or if it glows but doesn't get hot enough to open the gas valve. Some ovens have a separate igniter for the bake burner and the broiler burner, which operate on the same principle.

In a gas range, the problem could be a failed oven igniter or a failed or closed gas valve.

Since your burners are getting gas I do not think it is the gas valve.
Let me know if this helps.

Thank you for using MangeMyLife.com. I know how critical knowing what the wattage for this Kenmore Gas Range would be living off-grid.

Typically, the wattage for the range will be listed on the model identification sticker, usually behind the warming drawer on the left or right side if you have access to the range. However, typically, when the oven or broiler is being used, that range will use about 450 watts of power or 3.7 amps for the igniter. Outside of that, the control and spark igniter will not use much power. I hope that this is the information that you are looking for.

If you have any further questions or inquiries, please don't hesitate to ask. Thank you for using ManageMyLife.com.

thanks for the response, Josh. unfortunately, wattage is not listed my range's model id sticker. to clarify your earlier info, does the range consume 450 watts ONLY when the oven igniter is firing? or does it consume 450w all the time the oven/broiler is in use?

Thank you for the response and for using ManageMyLife.com.

The 450 watts will be used when the ignitor is igniting the flame. Once the burner ignition is made, the ignitor will turn off or stop glowing and will no longer need the wattage to glow.

Let me know if you have any further questions, and wish you all the best with the range.

Q:

F10 code on gas range

A:

Range and oven error codes are not always clear, but the range does what it is programmed to do for safety. It shuts down. I did some research and found a general answer for this error that may help explain while you wait for the expert to review your model. If you decide to schedule service for a qualified technician to help, an option is Sears Home Services. I attached the links below. I hope this information helps.

Thanks for contacting ManageMyLife.com. I am sorry you are having a problem with your range. The fault code "F10" indicates a runaway oven temperature. This could be caused by a faulty electronic oven control or temperature sensor. The oven temperature sensor can be removed and tested for resistance and compared to the RTD scale in the image below. At room temperature; the sensor should measure approximately 1100 Ohms of resistance. If the oven temperature sensor tests Okay; the electronic oven control will need to be replaced. The oven control can is access and replaced from behind the range. The cover behind the console will have to be taken off to access the oven control. NOTE: Disconnect the power cord from the power source before servicing your range.

The oven temperature sensor is located inside the oven cavity in rear upper corner. I added a YouTube video showing how to test oven sensor using an Ohm meter. Please click here to view that.
