A:

Hello glad to help.  Thank You for choosing Sears PartsDirect.com

I am sorry and do understand your frustration when there is trouble with the oven.

Glad to help out.   Im  looking at your Kenmore oven model number 79049073402.

I have a video below on how to clean glass that gets dirty between the front and the rear.    In that it shows how to take things apart and put back together.   See if it helps.   Lots of people change their glass and lots of people have it done by professionals.   It is something that I wouldn't try.   I would contact our Sears Service crew.

"PF" Oven Error Code

It is important to have your range working properly at all times, so I understand your concern. I was able to find a couple links that will inform you on the PF error code. I attached both links below. An expert will respond shortly with a detailed response specific to your model. I hope your oven doesn't cause you too much trouble.

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

The "PF" indicates a power failure. This would be normal to happen when the circuit breaker was flipped OFF and back ON. The "Clock" must be set before all the other functions will be available. You will need to press "Clock" and set the clock and your oven should operate normally.

I added an image below with the instructions for setting the clock. This may be the issue. If not, please reply and I will be glad to assist you further.

Jennifer: Depending on the model number of your range, it could have a faulty electronic oven control/clock assembly or a possible faulty touch panel/membrane switch.

Recenly our display board blew up it began sparking and a bunch of smoke came out, so we had to replace it. After installing new one, are is flashing a clock and the PF. I cannot set the clock becuase the touch pad is not working. We checked to make sure all the wires were putting out power and they were all good. Any other suggestions. It is a Kenmore Elite wall oven. Model #.790-49073402

Jennifer: I confirmed you have the correct part number for the electronic oven control. I will have to assume the touch panel is faulty which is not allowing you to set the clock. There is a good chance as well that the electronic control board that was installed is faulty too. There is no test procedure for the touch panel of control board if it will power up and assume the clock is flashing 12:00. The problem could be a bad control or the control panel with the membrane switches.

We actually returned the first board thinking the same thing, that it was faulty. So with the second one doing exact same thing, I assume you are right that the touch panel is faulty. If this is the case, do I have to replace the entire panel?

Hello Jennifer. I see that you received some advice from Expert Joey S. in the above thread that Dezeray posted in the previous response. It does appear that you will need to replace that control panel with the keypad. That entire console key panel (part 318280403) will need to be replaced. Here is a link for that part: Kenmore Elite Wall Oven Model 790.49073402 Control Panel . That link has a picture of the part. Be sure that you shut off the house circuit breakers for the oven before accessing and replacing that control panel.

If you need more help, reply with additional details and we will assist you further.

If you get to the point where you need to have a service technician diagnose and repair this failure, you can schedule service through this link: Sears Home Services .
