Question and Answers

Q:

Kenmore Elite Wall Oven (electric)

A:

Hello Naomi. I am sorry to hear about these problems that you are having with your Kenmore Elite Wall Oven.

Your symptoms point to a problem with the electronic control board in the control panel since the oven heats properly in the convection bake mode. I recommend that you reset the control board by shutting off the house circuit breakers for the oven to completely disconnect electrical power. Leave the power to the oven off for 5 minutes. Restore power and see if the control begins working properly. If it does, then you can continue using the oven without replacing any parts. Just monitor the oven while it is being used to look for further problems.

If that tactic does not help, then you will probably need to replace the electronic control board in the control panel (part  316577051). Shut off the house circuit breakers for the oven before accessing and replacing that electronic control board. Let us know if you need help with accessing and replacing that component.

It is normal for the bake and broil elements to alternate during the preheat cycle and bake cycle.  You may need to check the broil mode to make sure that the broil element is working properly. If not, then that broil element may need to be replaced.

You may also need to clean the meat probe jack inside the oven. Shut off the house circuit breakers for the oven before cleaning that meat probe jack. There is a chance that residue inside that meat probe jack is causing it to short out so that the control detects that the meat probe is plugged in. If that jack is clean, then the jack and or the electronic control board may need to be replaced to fix that problem.
