Q:

lower element replacement 79047833400 Kenmore Electric oven

A:

Hello glad to help.  Thank You for choosing Sears PartsDirect.com

I am sorry and do understand your frustration when there is trouble with the oven.

Glad to help out.   Im  looking at your Kenmore model number 790.47833400.

I am sorry but not seeing a clear picture.   Most generally the bake element is held in by 2 screws, one on each pole area.   Unscrew them then pull out the bake element.   Take off the wires and just rehook them up to the new bake element.

If you have further questions please let me know.

Thanks for choosing Sears PartsDirect.com

Thank you for your question. I'm sorry you are having this problem with your oven. Unfortunately, without the model number, I will not be able to provide specific information. However, if the top burners are working, it would indicate there is proper voltage to the range. Usually, this will lead to a failed control but it could also be a wiring problem inside the range although it's not as likely. Sometimes resetting the control may correct this problem. To reset the control, disconnect the power for 30 seconds and then reconnect it. I hope this will help you. If you would like more assistance, reply to this thread and please include the complete model and serial number and I will be glad to assist you further.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services.

Hello. Both heating elements are not heating up on my built-in electric oven. I'm not really sure how to access the back of it except that maybe we can get to the back of it by pulling out our fridge (which shares a cabinet wall with the built-in oven. The make and model of my oven is a kenmore 790.47833400 serial # NF50821682. I tried turning off the main switch to the oven in our electric switch box. The oven clock lights did turn off, so I know it did not have power to it. Then, I turned it back on. Before and after doing this, the oven light and clock and timer all work correctly. It is just the heating elements that will not heat up...both broiler and baker--top and bottom elements. Thank you for any help.

Joanie, if both elements have stopped working, the most likely reason will be a failed control. I see you have already tried to reset the control. It's possible the problem could be in the wiring but it's not very likely. A good check will be to check voltage at the elements. Only make this check if you feel confident in your repair skills and can safely make this type of check. Disconnect the power and now remove the screws holding the bake element in place. The element can now be pulled forward enough to access the electrical connections. Make sure the connections are not touching anything and turn the power back on. Now, set the control to bake and place the meter leads on the terminals. There should be 240 volts at this check. If the voltage is not there, the control # 316418556 will need to be replaced. I hope this will help you. If you would like to have a technician make this repair, you can call 1-800-469-4663 to schedule a tech to come out.

A:

The procedures in the first image below describe how to access the door handle on your model of Kenmore oven. The procedures for the outer decorative colored glass and stainless steel door models are both covered in the procedures. I also provided the image of the parts breakdown for the door of your oven. This information should help you access and tighten the door handle on your oven. If you need more help, resubmit your question with additional details.
