Error Code:

Question and Answers

What does error code F10 mean on my Kenmore oven, model number 790.47784404?

The "F1" fault code generally implies the electronic oven control itself has detected an internal malfunction. This generally means to replace the Electronic Oven Control (EOC). Disconnect power, wait 30 seconds and reapply power. If the fault code returns upon power up, replace the EOC.

The F10 error code indicates a runaway oven temperature. Check RTD (Sensor Probe) and replace if necessary. If oven is overheating, disconnect power. If oven continues to overheat when the power is reapplied, replace EOC (Electronic Oven Control). Severe overheating may require the entire oven to be replaced should damage be extensive. Sensor value should read 1100 ohms @ 75 degrees.

I recommend removing the back panel of the oven and disconnecting the (oven) temperature sensor probe first and checking the resistance of it before replacing the EOC. The oven temperature sensor probe is located at the rear upper left hand corner inside the oven cavity. The sensor should measure 1091 ohms plus or minus 5.3 ohms at room temperature of 75 degrees plus or minus 2.5 degrees.

The replacement sensor probe may be purchased for $28.93 at the following link; Sears Parts Direct

The replacement EOC may be purchased for $190.54 at the following link; Sears Parts Direct
