Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

Thanks for adding the model number in the thread. If the oven cavity temperature is not reaching the set temperature of 350 after allowing plenty of time to preheat then it's likely to have a faulty bake or broil element; however it could have a faulty Electronic Oven Control board or oven temperature sensor probe.

I recommend checking to see if both heating elements are working. Place the unit in broil and then bake and carefully check if each one is working or not. If you find one not working then it could have a faulty element, oven control board or possibly just a loose or burnt wire connection in the bake or broil circuit.

I hope this is helpful. If I may be of further assistance as more details become available, please reply to this post.

I checked the lower and upper elements...both glowed red when turned on. Does that rule the faulty bake element out?

Wendy: If both upper/broil and lower/bake elements will glow red hot then you do not have a faulty bake or broil element. Are you sure the oven will only reach 175 degrees? It seems it should at least make it 175 if both elements are working. Are you sure the thermostat youre using is accurate? I know that most are very slow in showing the actual oven cavity temperature. They will lag behind in showing the actual temperature. It sounds like if the oven is not reaching the 350 degree temperature then I would replace the oven temperature sensor probe first and see how it operates. The oven temperature sensor probe is part #316217002 and is located in the upper rear left corner or rear upper right corner.

Q:

Why is the oven door not unlocking on my Kenmore range?

A:

If the controls are locked & you are pressing the correct pad to unlock & nothing happens I suspect a touchpad or control board problem. If the controls are not locked but the oven door is locked I suspect a programming error. Try setting up the self cleaning cycle again & this time let it run for only 1-2 minutes & press stop cancel. This should unlock the door.

I have model 790.47153403 and had the same problem with our oven. Tried other recommendations of starting the clean cycle, but that button was locked too. We thought resetting the panel may help, so we shut off the power at electric box, which reset everything. The panel then displayed PF. We set the clock, then held the stop/clear button down for three seconds, and it worked! Good luck.
