Thank you for submitting your question. James has provided great information. I recommend testing the oven temperature probe to see if it's faulty. If it is then replace the probe (316217002). If test okay, then I recommend replacing the main control board (318185412). Here is a video on how to test the oven temperature probe. You can order all parts from our Sears Parts Direct web site. If you do not feel comfortable performing test or repairing this problem yourself, I recommend scheduling for service. You can schedule for service online with our Sears Home Services team. I hope this information helps. Please reply back to this thread if you require further assistance. Thank you for using Manage My Life.

Q:

How do I install the electronic clock timer in a Kenmore electric slide in range model 79046994103?

A:

There is not a repair manual or procedure available that describes how to access the control board in this model of range. Here are some tips that may help:

  • Turn off the breaker to disconnect electrical power before accessing internal components on the range.
  • To access the electronic control, you will likely need to remove the glass stove top. To remove the top, you will need to pull the range out of the counter. There may be screws on the back of the range that hold the top in placed. Sometimes these screws are hidden. After pulling the range out and removing screws that secure the glass stove top, you will need to carefully pull off the glass top. There will likely be a wiring harness plug that needs to be disconnected in order to remove the glass top.
  • With the glass top removed, you should have access to the control board. Remove the wiring connections from the old control board and connect them to the new control board one at a time.
  • Remove the screws from the bracket that hold the old control board and replace it with the new one.
You can view a parts list diagram of your range on the Sears PartsDirect website www.searspartsdirect.com . The parts images may help you access the control board.

If these tips do not help, you may need to contact a different service repair person to install the control board for you.
