The link was to a similar question, but they did not supply a model number, so the answer wasn't very helpful. Can you tell me (a) is it safe to use the oven, and (b) is it safe to use the self-clean feature to try to remove the aluminum foil? Thanks.

A:

Thank you for your question.

I can understand your concern when the aluminum foil melted to the oven bottom.

There is no safety issue with the foil melted to the oven bottom.

  • I would suggest that you remove as much of the fused foil as you can with a non metallic scraper.

  • It will not alter the way the range works, and in time as you use the range and periodically put it through self-clean it will slowly get less noticeable.

It would require a very expensive oven liner replacement and so if you can live with how it looks, I would recommend not replacing it.

Thank you for using Manage My Life.
