A:

Thank you for choosing Sears Parts Direct. I can certainly assist you in locating the instructions to replace the burner switch on your range. I did look into the model number you have provided, and I was able to locate the instructions to remove the cooktop. Removing the cooktop will give you access to the switches.

GAS COOKTOP REMOVAL
1. Shut off gas to range.
2. Disconnect power.
3. Remove gas supply line at the regulator. If necessary, move range out of the cabinet opening.
4. Remove grates, burner covers, knobs and seals, inspect burners.
5. Remove screws securing burner pans. Inspect electrode, cleanliness, etc.
Note: The electrode can not be removed from the pan.
6. Remove left and right screws on each side of range securing panel top to body.
Note: Screws are located 1/1/2" from console and 3" from back of range.
7. Remove machine screw on manifold side of range (2-3/4" from cooktop) securing manifold to cooktop.
8. Remove glass top and gasket.
9. To reassemble cooktop, reverse procedure.

Q:

What does error code "F1" mean?

A:

Generally speaking "F1" implies an electronic oven control (EOC) failure, however it could have a bad oven temperature sensor probe (RTD sensor) causing the "F1". See image below.

The oven temperature sensor can be tested using an ohm meter and the measurement of the resistance can be compared to the "RTD" scale to verify if the oven temperature sensor probe is OK or not. If the sensor probe measures around 1091 ohm plus or minus 5.3 ohms at room temperature of 75 degrees plus or minus 2.5 degrees then the electronic oven control board will need to be replaced. The oven sensor connection can be accessed at the back of the range. It will be located in the upper right hand corner when standing behind the range. It will have a quick disconnect connector. NOTE: Disconnect the range from the power source before servicing. The electronic oven control will cost approximately between $279.55 and $365.82 depending on the color of the range. The sensor probe will cost approximately $28.93.

I recommend calling a service technician to diagnose and repair your range rather than replacing it.
