Question and Answers

Q:

How can I convert the door and drawer on my black Kenmore Elite slide-in range model 790.46719602 to stainless steel?

A:

Changing the front panel on the bottom drawer would not be too difficult. Changing the oven door to a stainless design would be a much bigger and more expensive project. Many of the stainless steel door parts are different than the black door. You can view a stainless steel version of this slide-in range by looking at the parts list for model 790.46713602. Some of the inner parts of the door are the same but many are not. You would have to order either all of the parts for the stainless door (over $700 worth of parts) or you would have to determine the common parts that you can use from the black door (5 or 6 parts appear to be the same). The project would still be expensive. Once you get the parts, you would also have to install them. Putting together an oven door is not easy. A technician would likely be needed (about $150 in labor). A spacer kit for the stainless steel door (part 903101-9020) would also likely be needed. I recommend that you seriously consider all of the above information before proceeding with this project. It will likely be better to replace the range with a stainless model instead of trying to modify the black one.
