Q:

Error code F10 79046613500 Kenmore Elite Electric range

A:

Hello, glad to help.  Thank You for choosing Sears PartsDirect.com.

I am sorry and do understand your frustration when getting the F10 error code.

Glad to help out.  I’m looking at your Kenmore Range model number 79046613500.

Let me see what the Service Manual will state on this error code of F10.
F10 -> Control has sensed a potential runaway oven condition.  Control may have a shorted relay, sensor probe that may have gone bad.

SUGGESTED CORRECTIVE ACTION:
1.  Check sensor probe and replace if necessary.  If oven is overheating, disconnect power.  If oven continues to overheat when the power is reapplied, replace control board.  Severer overheating may require the entire oven to be replaced, should damage be extensive.

2.  Press CLEAR key.

3.  Disconnect power, wait 30 seconds and reapply power.  If fault returns upon power-up, replace Control board.

4.  Disconnect power; verify flat cable connections (P6 or P12).

Thank you for choosing Sears Parts Direct. I can certainly understand how frustrating it can be when your Range is pulling up an error code.  I did check on the P5 error code and it does not state there is a P5 error in our system. Did it happen to be a different error code that may look like another letter or number?

Thank you for your question. Have a great day.

Thank you for choosing ManageMyLife.com. I understand how important it is to be able to have a working range. I was unable to locate a P5 error code for this range. However, I did find a PS code. This code indicates an error with the power supply. The power cord may be incorrectly connected or the range may have inadequate electrical supply. The power cord should supply 240 volts of electricity to the range.
If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services
If you would like more assistance, reply to this thread and I will be glad to assist you further. Thanks for using ManageMyLife.com.

Thank you for your response and for using ManageMyLife.com.

That PS 00 normally indicates that you have a communication error between the electronic surface control board and the electronic oven control board in the console. It is likely that you have a control board failure in the range that is causing this problem. There is a chance that you just have some wiring connection problems.

You can unplug the range and check the wiring connections on all of the boards. Based on your model, you will probably see at least 3 control boards back there. The image below shows a partial view of that area in a range that may be similar to yours. You will probably see a lot of wiring harnesses back there. If you find and correct a wiring connection problem then you may be able to fix this problem without having to replace parts or have a service technician examine the range. Be sure that you have the range unplugged when accessing those internal components.

If you don't find any wiring connection problems, I recommend that you have a service technician examine and repair the range. You can schedule service through this link: Sears Home Services .

NOTE: You may consider purchasing a Sears Service Smart Protection Agreement to cover this repair and also protect the range for entire year. That protection agreement costs around $239 and would cover the repair for parts and labor up to $500. A single control board on that type of range can cost around $200. You can call Sears at 1-800-469-4663 (1-800-4MY-HOME) to discuss that type of agreement to cover the repair and provide a 1 year warranty.

If you have any further questions or inquiries, please don't hesitate to ask. Thank you for using ManageMyLife.com.
