Q:

Reset control board for oven to work on my range Model# 79045714100.

A:

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

There is not any procedure for resetting the electronic oven control board/clock assembly. It is normal for the "Door Locked" LED to flash as the door lock motor mechanism is locking the door. As soon as the controls are set, the lock motor will begin to run in order to lock the door and the "DOOR LOCKED" indicator light will flash until it senses the door is locked. One the micro switch on the door lock motor senses the door is locked, the door locked indicator will stop flashing. You  DO NOT want to open the door while the light is flashing (it takes about 15 seconds for the lock to close) as the door is locking or this can happen.

You can try pressing the OFF/Cancel pad and then program a clean cycle while applying inward pressure at the top center area of the door. After starting a clean cycle, wait about 30 seconds and then press the OFF/Cancel pad while still applying inward pressure on the door and see if will unlock. If it does not unlock, you will need to slide the range out in order to access the door lock motor. You can remove the door lock motor assembly and then push or pull the connection rod to manually unlock the door. The door lock motor has micro switches which opens and closed to let the control board if the door is locked or not. The motor may have quit in the middle of locking the door or you opened the door while it was locking. The oven light switch must also sense the door is shut before the lock motor will run.

NOTE: Disconnect the power supply from the range before removing the door lock motor and manually pushing or pulling on the connecting rod that connects to the door latch.

Your symptoms do point to a problem with the clock control board in the console (part 318184400R). There is a change that you had a bake or broil element that may have broken and then shorted to the metal in the cabinet to create this problem. I recommend that you shut off the house circuit breakers for the range to completely disconnect electrical power and check those elements for visible damage. If you see no problems, then replacing that clock control board in the console may fix your problem. I do not have a service procedure that I can provide you for accessing and replacing that clock control board in the console. I recommend that you have a service technician repair the range in this situation. Here is a link for the Sears Service website: Sears Home Services .

If you want to attempt this repair yourself, you can view the parts for the range on the Sears PartsDirect website. If you think that you can safely access that clock control board, then you can order that part from that website. Shut off the breakers for the range to disconnect electrical power and shut off the gas supply before accessing internal components. It appears that you would need to lift the glass top of the range and access that clock control board from the rear of the console. There will probably be a wire cover that you will need to remove once you lift that cook top up. You will need to rely on the parts list diagram and your personal observation of the range to complete this repair on your own. If you replace that control board and still have problems, let us know and we will try to assist you further.
