Q:

got an F10 code , turned oven off and fan will not go off. Turned off breaker to oven and left for several days, turned back on and fan still runs. 79045499502 Kenmore Electric range

A:

Thanks for contacting manage my life about your range/oven; sorry to hear you are having a problem, I will be glad to assist you with this issue.  The F10 code is an indication of runaway heat and possible failures of the heat probe and main control board. The fan running all the time could be a result of the overheating and could be wiring, relays and controls. It is noted that extensive overheating can result in oven damages beyond repair. I strongly recommend that you call for service and have the unit diagnosed by a qualified technician.

Your details seem to indicate that you have a voltage supply problem even though the control will power up. The burners need 240 volts of AC power to heat. The control and indicator lights will work if the range is supplied with the 120 volt L1 leg of 240 volt power. If that L2 leg that provides the opposing 120 volts of 240 volt power is missing, then none of the elements in the range will heat. I recommend that you check the house circuit breakers or fuses again. If you find no problems with the house circuit breakers or fuses, then I recommend that you shut off the house circuit breakers (or remove the house fuses) for the range and check the wiring connections for the power supply. Here is a link for the installation guide that will help you check that issue: Installation Instructions . Pages 4 and 5 show the electrical connections in the junction box for this type of range. If those wiring connections are okay, then you may need to carefully check that voltage if you are comfortable performing that type of live test. Here is a link for a brief video that shows how to check that live voltage at a 240 volt outlet: Video: Perform a Voltage Check on a 240 Volt Outlet . The safety precautions are the same. The testing procedure for the voltage supply at the junction box is similar. If you are not confident that you can safely check that live voltage, then I recommend that you have an electrician check that issue . If the junction box does not have the proper voltage then you will probably need to have an electrician fix that failure. If the junction box has the proper voltage then you could have a problem with the armored pigtail cable or an internal wiring failure.

If you need more help, reply with additional details and we will assist you further.

This can be a difficult problem to resolve in some situations. If you get to the point where you need to have a service technician diagnose and repair this failure, you can schedule service through this link: Sears Home Services .
