Thanks for the diagram. It makes sense, and would help a lot more if the old switch and the new switches were exactly the same. The Old switch has 5 electrical plugs that are all marked, and it looks like I see these wires on the diagram. marked as L2, H2, H, P, L. If I understand this correctly-- L2 gets the red wire, H2 gets a yellow wire, H gets a yellow wire, P gets 2 black wires, and L gets a black wire. The problem is that the new switch is a little different. It looks have the plugs in different locations and different markings. 1H1, 2P, 3L1, 5L2, 4H2. These are listed from the same order as I listed the ones on the old switch. Now my question is What wire goes to what plug?? Thanks for your help. Al

Al, it looks like the terminals on the new switch are still marked the same as the original. Even if the terminals are in different positions, the wires will still go to the same termianls. H1 = yellow, P = 2 black wires, L1 = black, L2 = red and H2 = yellow. I hope this will help you.

Q:

Kenmore Electric drop-in Range - Model #790.45489501

A:

Thank you for submitting your question. I understand your concern and I will be happy to assist you. If the range is not reaching the correct temperature or if the temperature is too high, that is an issue with the oven temperature sensor probe (316217002). If you have a ohms/volt meter you can test the probe to verify the part. The probe will be located in the cavity of the oven in the upper left or right hand corner. Remove the two mounting screws that are securing the probe to the back wall of the oven. NOTE: If you don't see any mounting screws on the inside of the oven cavity, then you will need to remove the back panel  of the range to access the probe. Slowly begin pulling the probe out until you come to a quick disconnect plug. Disconnect the probe plug and then insert one meter lead into the terminal of the probe plug and place the other meter lead into the other terminal of probe plug. Place the dial on your ohms/volt meter to 200K. The probe should measure 1091 ohms plus or minus 5.3 ohms at room temperature of 75 degrees plus or minus 2.5 degrees if it's okay. If it doesn't measure approximately 1091 ohms, replace the probe. If the oven probe measures correctly, then the issue will be with the main contraol board (318296802) and it'll need replaceent (third image). You can order parts from our Sears Parts Direct web site. I hope this helps. Please reply back to this thread if you require further assistance. Thank you for using Manage My Life.
