Question and Answers

Q:

How do I access the heating element on a glass cook top?

A:

If the surface heating element is found defective the part would be covered under the 2nd through 5th year limited warranty, but you must pay the labor to have it replace. In order to have the part covered under the limited warranty an authorized service company must do the warranty work. If the burner switch is the reason why the surface element has failed to heat, you would be responsible for the cost of the part and labor. The burner switch is not covered under the limited warranty. Yes, it's safe to use the cook top with a bad element.

The cook top will have to be pulled out of the counter top to gain access the screws around the frame. Once all the screws are removed the glass with frame will lift off the base.

There is no online repair manual available online. Due to the cost of the element ($152.43) I recommend calling a service technician and have it replace under the part warranty. You will be responsible for the service fee and labor.
