A:

I understand how dangerous it can be if one of the elements keeps heating up no matter what setting you choose, I will be more than happy to help you. While you are waiting for an expert answer, I recommend you resubmit your question giving more specific details, does the element heat when you turn on the oven or is the element heating too much and you select a low heat. I hope my suggestion helps.

This type of problem is caused by a failed burner switch. You can order a new burner switch from the Sears PartsDirect website. The part number for the right front burner switch is 318293814.

To replace this switch, you will need to shut off the house circuit breaker for the cook top to disconnect electrical power. Remove the knobs from the burner switches. Pull the elements out of the burners and remove the pans that were under the elements. You should then be able to lift up the cook top. It appears to have hinges at the back that will allow the top to be lifted. Note the location of the wires on the original switch. Remove the wires and replace the burner switch. Reassemble the cook top and test the burner.

This information should help you fix this burner problem. If you need more help, reply with additional details and we will assist you further.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .
