Q:

Replacement of deramic cooktop 790-42734400

A:

Thank you for the inquiry and for using SearsPartsDirect.com.

On some models, there is a cooktop gasket or insulation that goes around it, and some models have knob gaskets that go under the knobs. However, this model doesn't utilize either of those parts. The only other parts I could foresee you possibly needing if they are worn out are the switch bushings, number 74 and the Support, number 35 on the 'Controls' diagram. They aren't heavily replaced items, but since you are replacing the maintop, if they are needed, it would be a good time to replace them.

If by chance you want to replace them, I have included a blue link below that you may click on to be directed to the PartsDirect page to purchase the bushings.

The burner switch controls the level on those burners. It is likely that you will need to replace the burner switches for the burners that are heating improperly. You can order parts from the Sears PartsDirect website. Shut off the house circuit breaker for the cook top before accessing internal components. To access the burner switches, you will need to remove the cook top from the counter and remove the burner box at the bottom of that cook top.

If you need more help, reply with additional details and we will assist you further.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .
