Question and Answers

Q:

Control Panel 79041029802 Kenmore Elite Electric range

A:

Thank you for your inquiry on your Kenmore Range, Model: 790.41029802. From reviewing the details on your model, I do not see a child lock icon on your control board. You will need to turn the breaker off or unplug the range for cleaning.

Safety Warning: Before beginning the repair, disconnect the direct power supply to the range to prevent the risk of injury or any electrical shock.

If you don’t feel comfortable or confident in this repair, then you can have it repaired at home by a sears technician. I have the included a link to the website: Sears Home Services or call 1-800-469-4663.

I hope this answered your question. Thank you for contacting SearsPartsDirect.com, and have yourself a wonderful day.

Q:

oven not heating up

A:

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

Based on your symptom and details, neither heating element is operating in the oven. I assume the radiant surface elements heat indicating the range is getting the proper voltage supply of 220 volts.

There is a "thermal circuit breaker" connected in a series circuit in the line 2 (L2) voltage supply which is common to the bake, broil and convection element. If the thermal circuit breaker trips, the oven will not heat. The thermal circuit breaker(s) are located behind the range. The rear cover of the range will need to be removed to access and reset the thermal circuit breakers. NOTE: Disconnect the range from the power source before removing the rear panel.

If both thermal circuit breakers are not faulty or tripped, then it could have a faulty electronic oven control.

I hope this is helpful. If I may be of further assistance as more details become available, please reply to this post.

If you get to the point where you need to have a service technician diagnose and repair this failure, you can schedule service through this link:Sears Home Services.

A:

The warming drawer on your range does not have a lock, so something must be holding the drawer closed. Most of the time then this happens, something inside the drawer is catching on the top or the sides and not letting the drawer open.

Don't force the drawer open as you will probably damage some parts that will have to be replaced. I suggest you go to http://services.sears.com/shs/category/repair?sid=MMLxexpertxmerch and get a Sears technician to open the drawer.
