Q:

Gas Range Smell

A:

Thank you Joe for your question and the details you provided in it. It sounds like some where gas is seeping and not being consumed. Now it appears that you're stating that the odor is different then the rotten eggs that is normally associated with gas. I will forward your question to an expert who will investigate the matter further and get back to you. You will hear from them within two business days if not sooner. Until you hear from us, have a nice day.

Thank you for submitting your question. I understand your concern and I will be happy to assist you. IFf the smell is emitting from the stove top burners, it's usually caused by improper fuel/air mixture. If you only smell the odor of gas when the oven is operating, I suspect the oven gas valve is leaking a small amount of gas through the valve and orifice after the burner shuts off. You can check for leaks with a 50/50 solution of water and liquid dish soap and apply it liberally over all the pipe joints and over the tip of the oven gas valve orifice. If it begins making small little bubbles, you found the leak. The bake burner orifice is located where the tubing enters under the bottom the bake burner. I recommend having a certified LP technician come out and inspect the unit for you. You can schedule for service online with our Sears Home Services team. I hope this helps. Please reply back to this thread if you require further assistance. Thank you for using Manage My Life.

How do I install the wiring harness and igniter switch part 318232600 on my Kenmore range model 790.36692502?

A:

Shut off the breaker for the range and shut the gas supply cut-off valve. To access the igniter switches, you will need to open up the control console. The image below shows how to open the console and remove the igniter switches. Your range may be slightly different than the one shown below but the basic procedure is the same. This should help you complete this repair.

If you need more help, resubmit your question with additional details.
