Kenmore gas stove. 790-36684502 No power to anything, the display won't come on, and the sparkers won't come on to light the burners. (Oven light is controlled off the display panel, so no way to check that.)

I'm sorry to hear that you are having problems with the range. Since you are not getting power to either the control panel or the burner ignitor, then the problem is more likely the power cord. You can test to see if you are getting power into the range. You will need a ohm/volt meter. Begin by testing the terminal that the cord is connected to. If you are not getting any power, replace the cord.

If you are then test the L1 and L2 connectors on the control board. If you are not getting power, then the wiring harness needs to be replaced. If you are, the control board needs to be replaced. It would be a good idea to have someone who is experience with electricity to complete this repair, if you aren't comfortable in doing so. If you need further assistance, please reply to this thread.

Thank you for the reply. I'm an electrical engineer, so I feel comfortable working on things myself. I just didn't want to tear into the entire stove without some direction about where to look. I was wondering if there might be some sort of fusing or circuit breaker inside the unit that could have tripped.

Q:

What would cause one of the gas burners to not ignite?

A:

When any one of the burner knobs is pushed in and rotated to the "LITE" position all 4 burner electrodes will spark. You did not say or indicate if the electrode at the burner that wont ignite is sparking or not. You said it clicks but was it sparking? Can you see the electrode and is the ceramic insulator cracked? I recommend removing the burner and check for a blockage in a small opening above where the electrode sits. This is where the gas must travel in order to ignite the burner.

If you can not find any blockage I recommend calling a service technician to diagnose and repair your range.
