Question and Answers

Q:

orifice thread size 79036682502

A:

Thank you for being Sears’ valued member and for contacting SearsPartsDirect.com with your question about the orifice for your Kenmore gas range model 79036682502. I am so sorry the part broke off in the tube. I will be happy to help you with this.

Your question does not indicate which orifice broke. Nor does it indicate if the range is set up for natural gas or propane. I have included the information on the natural orifices that came with the range. They are not listed by thread size but by the size of the burner. I have included the part numbers and where they are located on the range.

Left Rear Orifice (9.5k) part number 316237902
Right Rear Orifice (5K) part number 316237903
Left Front Orifice (9.5) part number 316237902
Right Front Orifice (12k) part number 316237901

SAFETY WARNING: Be sure to disconnect the power to the range and shut off the gas supply before beginning your repair. This will help prevent injury and/or property damage from electrical shock and prevent dangerous gas leaks. If you are not comfortable completing this repair, you can set up service at www.SearsHomeServices.com or by calling 1-800-469-4663 (1-800-4MY-HOME).

I hope this answers your question. Thank you for choosing Sears, we appreciate your business.

I am sorry for any miss understanding. I have the conversion kit to go to propane. The orifice broke off at the large burner. The threads are the same on all the top burners. I need the tap size to drill out the broken orifice and tap the threads for the new orifice. What is the tread size of the top orifices for this model? Thank you, John

We do not have the thread specifications and size. You will either have to replace the orifice holder with igniter and tubing or you will have to remove one of the other orifices and measure the threads and size with a micrometer. I strongly suggest replacing the orifice holder with tubing assembly because you could develope a bad seal and leak gas around the threads or holder.
