Question and Answers

Q:

oven display is totally out,no code 79030172400 Kenmore Gas walloven

A:

Your symptoms indicate that the electronic control board (part 316418553) needs to be replaced. You indicated that the control panel has been replaced 4 times. I recommend that you check the installation of the wall oven to make sure that it complies with the guidelines in the Installation Manual. There is also a thermal fuse in the control box above the oven cavity. That fuse should protect the control from overheating. You may need to replace that component to prevent further control failures.

I hope that this information helps. If you need more assistance, let us know.

My Kenmore built in gas oven stopped working

Good morning... I can fully understand your concern regarding this issue. Have your tried turning the breaker off to the unit for at least 5 minutes? This action will reboot your unit back to it's factory settings. I did locate a link that will discuss this situation in greater detail. Though this link discusses a different model number, the mechanics are likely going to be very similar. Keep in mind that an expert will be responding within the next two business days if not sooner and will likely offer you more information and instruction. I hope this link will help guide you as to what might be wrong with your oven and have a nice day.

To "reprogram" the oven, you can shut off the house circuit breaker to completely disconnect electrical power. Leave the power off for 5 minutes. Reset the circuit breaker to restore power. See if the F30 code still appears. If it does, then the control detects a problem with the oven temperature sensor probe circuit. You can shut off the house circuit breaker and access the oven temperature sensor probe as shown in the image below. You can measure the resistance of that sensor probe using a volt/ohm meter. It should measure around 1100 ohms at room temperature. If the resistance is over way off, then that sensor probe (part 316217002). You can order that part from this page: Sensor Probe for Kenmore Wall Oven Model 790.30172400 .

If that sensor probe is okay, then you could have a bad electronic oven control board or a problem with the wire harness between the sensor probe and the electronic oven control board.

I hope that this information helps. If you need more assistance, reply with additional details.

If you get to the point where you need to have a service technician diagnose and repair this failure, you can schedule service through this link: Sears Home Services .
