Question and Answers

Q:

Incline will not turn off 831291661 Proform Proform 770ekg

A:

Thank you for your inquiry on your Proform Treadmill, Model: 770EKG. From reviewing the details on your model, something is telling the incline motor to keep going up. The problem is probably not in the incline motor itself, though it will overheat and damage itself if the problem continues. It is more likely that the voltage signal to your incline motor is not shutting off. If your console incline buttons respond when you press them then the problem is likely not in the console itself but it could be a short, or other damage, in the wiring between there and the controller. Once you have tested console, unplug your treadmill and then check those wires for any breaks or open circuits or discolor that suggests a short. It can take some time since the wire harness runs down the inside of the handlebar/console frame. If that wiring seems okay then check the wires coming off the incline motor for damage. If there is no damage in those wires either then the electronic board that controls the incline has most likely failed. Depending on the age of your treadmill, that could be the controller itself or it might be a separate power board. In either case, it will be the component that the wires off the incline motor run directly to. If they run to the same board as the console wires, and you see no other boards nearby, then it is a controller only set-up and the controller needs replacing. If the incline motor wires run to a different board than the console wires then that power board needs to be replaced.

Safety Warning: Before beginning the repair, disconnect the direct power supply to the treadmill to prevent the risk of injury or any electrical shock.

A:

Thank you for choosing Sears Parts Direct. I will be more than happy to help with your treadmill. Upon researching model 831291661; it sounds like the drive motor may need to be replaced. The drive motor allows the walking belt to turn successfully so when it begins to fail it will start vibrating causing louder noises and will not have enough strength to make the belt turn while you are on it. I have posted a link of the drive motor to view the link click here.

I trust this information will help you, we appreciate your business thank for choosing Sears.
