Q:

A customer ordered a motor for humidifier 758.154200. 758.154200

A:

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern. I'm sorry but we do not have a wiring diagram for your model. Based on your model number, your humidifier has 3 fan speeds. One of the wires on the new motor will not likely be used. Your unit shows to have a three speed motors; high, medium and a whisper mode (low speed). Since your model has two fan motors, the wires should be matched color for color just like the other working fan motor. I would wire up the new motor like the other working fan motor by matching the color of the wires.  All units usually have a wiring diagram pasted on it somewhere. I recommend looking all over the unit for the wiring diagram.

I hope this helpful.

I ordered a new humidifier motor for my Kenmore whole house humidifier Model 758.15420011, part number 828115-1. When it arrived, there was no wiring diagram and the new motor has 4 wires, the old one has three. Old one has a black, blue and white...new one has black, blue, white and red. How do I wire this up and why did it not have a wiring diagram with it?

Q:

Is there a metal or more durable version of part number 509229-1 for my humidifier. This plastic part breaks too easily and the expense is too much to replace. 758.154200

A:

Thank you for your inquiry on your Kenmore Humidifier, Model: 758.154200. From reviewing the details on your model, it doesn’t appear that there would be a metal/steel substitution cap for this humidifier.

I hope this answered your question. Thank you for contacting SearsPartsDirect.com, and have yourself a wonderful day.

A:

Thank you for choosing SearsPartsDirect.com and being a valued member.  I can certainly understand how frustrating it can be when your parts do not match.

I did look into the model and I am showing the replacment is 828115-1. I am not seeing it has been substituted to another part. I recommend calling 18004MYHOME customer care to determine if you received the incorrect part.

Thank you for looking into it. As with the 2 chats with Sears Parts Direct and 2 phone calls to Sears parts Direct, calling the manufacture of the unit nobody can tell me why the replacement motor has 4 wires and the original has 3, nor can anyone tell me the proper way to connect the motor. The replacement part number clearly shows in the diagram it has 4 wires. I have exhausted every avenue given to me and yet don't have an answer, however my credit card has been debited. Is there anyway to escalate this to the department/person or place that can answer the question? Would you like me to send you a photo of the original motor?

I also am having this same problem. The picture shows 4 wires but the original only has 3 wires. This is the second one of these that has quit working on me. I really like this humidifier. The first one I had for about 5 years and just decided it to be age but this one is only a couple of years old. Kevin if you figure out how to install this please send me an e-mail Ref: humidifier and tell me what you found out. It seems you are not getting any satisfaction from sears as I also am not.

I have gone ahead and replaced the bad fan with the one with the extra wire and I just wire nutted the extra wire off by itself and connected the other 3 wires to the unit, crossed my fingers and plugged it in. Its been 2 weeks and running great. Thank you American ingenuity.
