A:

Thank you for choosing Sears Parts Direct. I will be happy to help with your humidifier. Upon researching model 758144522; I always recommend using the water treatment. If you have issues with algae build up or bacteria build up then use the bacteriostatic as well. Every so often depends on usage it is good to use a humidifier cleaner to clean the internal parts.

Hi Alina, it's very kind of you to send me the link with the response from an expert. I've studied his instructions, but I think my humidifier model is somewhat different as the instructions don't seem to match my humidifier, as far as I can follow them. He also says that the filters are No. 14912, and mine are 14911. Many thanks, though. I certainly appreciate your interest. Best wishes, Vicky

Dear Fred, I'm also very grateful for the instructions you've sent. However, my humidifier model is different from the one imaged in the pictures. Mine does not have a water bottle. The water just goes in the bottom of the unit up to a certain level. Then there are two kind of cilinders into which I suppose the filters go, but I'm not exactly sure how. My husband used to set this up each season but he has just passed away. We were not home in November when he would normally have set it up. Now the house is getting very dry and I'm anxious to get the humidifier going. It's quite an old one because it used to belong to my in-laws. But it looks just like the one pictured on the box of the new filters, and it works fine once it's going. Many thanks for any additional input. Vicky

This is still about finding out how to set up the filters on my humidifier. I've been cleaning and inspecting the unit, and have now seen these directions: "For correct operation filter must be located inside flange of upper filter support." Whereas I appreciate the directions, they do not help, since I don't know that the "flange of the upper filter support" is. I've tried it out various ways, but still cannot figure it out. Any enlightenment would be most welcome. Many thanks, Vicky
