Question and Answers

Q:

How do I replace the door gasket on my freezer?

A:

The door gasket is held in place with metal collars. In order to remove the old gasket you will need to remove the white plastic push-in rivets around the perimeter of the collars. If the new gasket has folds or creases, it helps to place the complete gasket in a tub full of warm water & let it sit for 30-45 minutes. This will soften-up the gasket to make it easier to install. You will need to align the metal strips & gasket with the holes & push the rivets in place. This is made easier if the door is removed from the freezer or have another person there to help hold the gasket in place. Once the gasket is installed close the freezer door to get everything aligned. Once everything is in place, close the freezer door to check the sealing surface. You will sometimes need to use a hair dryer to soften-up the gasket to get it to stay in position. Leave the door closed for at least 24 hours before resuming operation.

thanks all for suggestions about gasket replacement. I finished the replacement, but the door will not close securely, i.e., when top is closed securely, bottom of the door is still open about 1.5 in.
