Q:

Lighting pilot light on gas range

A:

Having to light the pilot on your Range can be difficult. I would suggest checking the owner's manual for correct instructions to light the Kenmore model in question. Which I have been able to locate on the Manage My Life website . I also found some general advice on a how to site that you may review if you wish. I attached both links below. Hope this helps.

This range uses a glow bar igniter system as shown in the first image below instead of having a pilot light. You can check to see if that igniter on the bake burner is glowing. If not, you could have a bad igniter, a failed electronic clock control board, a wiring failure or a bad safety gas valve. If the igniter is glowing, I recommend that you check that service gas shut-off valve on the regulator (shown in the second image). If that switch is not in the "on" position, the oven will not get gas flow even though the stove top burners will work. If that switch is okay and the igniter is glowing, then it is probably weak and will need to be replaced. You can order parts from the Sears PartsDirect website. Unplug the range and shut off the gas supply before accessing internal components and replacing parts.

These tips may help you fix this oven problem in your range. If you need more help, reply with additional details and we will assist you further.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .
