Q:

ice forming and water leaking in bottom freezer 795.7554

A:

Thanks for contacting manage my life about your refrigerator model 79575542…; sorry you are having a problem, I will be glad to assist you. Based on the description you have provided I think that the defrost drain trough and or drain tube are blocked. The unit will defrost about twice daily and the moisture from this process runs off the evaporator coils into the drain trough and out the bottom of the freezer to a pan under the bottom of the unit. If the drain is blocked the water fills the trough, run over and into bottom of the freezer and covers the freezer floor, if will eventually run out the door. _Always disconnect power supply before servicing the appliance and be cautious of any sharp metals while accessing components_There are two way to clean the drain: the best way is to unload the refrigerator, unplug, open doors and allow 8-10 hours for it to deice. Then access the back of the unit remove machine compartment cover and flush drain with air pressure then warm water using a turkey baster. Be prepared to deal with leaking water from inside and under the bottom. The other way after manually defrosting is to remove back freezer panel which would involve removing door, rails, ice maker (if applicable) evaporator fan and housing ect. There are no images available on this process as it is a standard repair for technicians who do not need visual instructions. I hope this helps you, if you need service here is a link to Sears Home Services. Ron H.

That's exactly what the Sears technician diagnosed and the"other way" is exactly what he did. He also added a heat probe to elminate it from reoccurring. I understand that the heat probe is now standard equipment on these refrigerators. Makes sense. Wish they had thought of it sooner.

Hi Tom , glad you got a fix. Probes are great if the issue is caused by freezing over before the drain, but if the tube is clogging with dust form under the unit , cleaning is the solution. Ron H.

Thank you for your question. I'm sorry you are having this problem with your refrigerator. Based on the information listed, there could be multiple problems or it could all be related back to the main control board. The freezing condition in the fridge section could be a problem with the air tower, the sensor or the control board. The ice buildup could be defrost related, which could be the heating element, the defrost sensor or the control board. The display problem could be a defective board inside the dispenser, a loose wire connection or it could also be the main control board. It can be very complicated making these checks in this model and I recommend having a technician make these checks. I'm listing a site you can access, to have a tech come out. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services . Thank you for using Manage My Life.

Thanks for the inquiry about your refrigerator control not working correctly. Unfortunately I would need the model number off the refrigerator to be able to answer correctly. The mode number is located just inside the fresh food section on the side wall.
I will be happy to respond once I receive this important information.

Thanks Ron H.
