Question and Answers

Q:

Range will not light

A:

Diagnosing kitchen cooking appliances can be difficult. They have many more electronic parts now. I was able to find a previous expert post that may help provide some answers while you wait for your expert to review your model. If you would like to have an experienced technician visit to diagnose and make repairs, an option is the Sears Home Services link below.

Thank you for your question.

I can understand wanting to repair the ignition system on your gas range.

Gas appliances are inherently dangerous and we recommend that you have a gas range technician service your range.

The spark module produces the ignition spark for all burners at the same time no matter which burner you have turned on.

If the spark is weak it could be the igniter module or it could be a bad wire harness or shorted igniter at one of the burner heads.

I would suggest turning the gas off to the range and then turning on any of the burner knobs to the lite position and examine the spark being delivered to the different burner heads. If you can observe the igniters and they look clean and not shorted then I would suggest replacing the spark module.

The part number is: 12001596.

Thank you for using Manage My Life.
