Check to see if the broil burner will ignite. If neither of the oven burners will ignite, I recommend that you check the oven gas service shut-off valve that is shown in the first image. If that tab is in the "off" position, the oven burners will not get any gas. (I assume that the stove top burner work.)

If neither of the burners ignite and that oven gas service shut-off valve is open, then I recommend that you check to see if the igniters on those burners are glowing. The theory of operation for the oven ignition system on this range is shown in the second image. If the igniters are not glowing, then you could have a bad control board, a wiring failure, bad igniters, or a bad safety gas valve. If the igniters are glowing, then the circuits are okay and you likely have a bad igniter in that circuit. If you have a clamp-on ammeter, you can check the amp draw through the wire between the igniter and the safety gas valve. You should measure at least 2.9 amps of current through that circuit. If not, then the igniter will need to be replaced. Both igniters rarely fail at the same time. If the broil burner works but the bake burner does not ignite, then you may need to replace that bake igniter.

You can order parts from the Sears PartsDirect website. Be sure that you unplug the range and shut off the gas supply before accessing and replacing internal components.

These tips may help you fix this oven problem in your range. If you need more assistance, reply with additional details.

Q:

How do I unlock the oven door that is in the open position on my Kenmore gas range model 790.72850?

A:

You can try pushing the oven door switch in and holding it down while you attempt to cancel the self clean mode. Sometimes you may need to hold in the door switch and set a new clean mode to fully extend the door lock and then cancel the clean mode once the burners ignite to retract the door latch.

If the control is stuck on a fault code (F9), then you may be able to reset the code by unplugging the unit for a couple of minutes and then plugging it back in while holding down the door switch. If the fault code clears, you may be able to reset the door latch as described in the first paragraph.

If the door latch will not retract, it my be broken and in need of replacement.

If you need more help with this problem, resubmit your question with additional details.
