Thank you for your question about timing on the Singer sewing machine.

Remove the needle plate and bobbin and bobbin case holder.

With the hand wheel turn until the needle goes down into the shuttle case until it is at its bottom most point. Then raise the needle about 1/4 inch off the bottom and this should bring the very point of the shuttle hook into the very center of the needle shank, just above the eye of the needle.

If it is not at that location the shuttle hook will need to be retimed.

Remove the covers off the bottom of the sewing machine and locate the driver gear for the shuttle hook. Rotate the gear until you can get to the one set screw that is blind and loosen it. The rotate the hand wheel until your in the correct needle position as outlined above, and loosen the screw you can see, and hold the hand wheel so the lower shaft will not move and rotate the loosened gear to get the very point of the shuttle hookwhere it needs to be behind the needle. Once you have it back in time then set one of the set screws and check to see if it is the right location by turning the hand wheel. Then set the other set screw.

I hope this will help, and please let me know how it went.
