A:

Thank you for your inquiry on the Kenmore Range, Model: 790.7250. I’m sorry to hear you’re having trouble with the burners not igniting.  On reviewing the model, it appears that the owner’s manual has some recommendations on what could be causing the cook top to not operate. I have provided a link below to the manual just in case you don’t have a cop of the manual.

I hope this answered your question. Thank you for choosing SearsPartsDirect.com and have a wonderful rest of your day.

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

To begin with, the model number you provided is not a correct or complete model number. I will assume the model number begins with 790.7250 and four addition numbers following. Based on the model number of 790.7250; this a free standing gas range. Since it is a gas range, it operates on 120 volts. If the voltage supply is not dropping out when the oven is turned on, then I would have to suspect a faulty electronic oven control or possible a loose wire connection in the power supply connected at the electronic oven control.

In order to test to see if the voltage supply is dropping out when the oven is turned on will require checking the voltage supply at the control board across the black and white wire before turning the oven on and after turning the oven on. If the voltage does not drop out when the oven is turned on, then it may have a faulty electronic oven control. If the voltage supply is dropping out, then it could be in the power supply circuit between the breaker box and range or at the electronic oven control/clock assembly. NOTE: I do not recommend checking the voltage supply with a voltage meter unless you have experience and feel safe and confident in doing so, otherwise I recommend calling a service technician to properly diagnose and repair your range.

If you get to the point where you need to have a service technician diagnose and repair this failure, you can schedule service through this link:Sears Home Services.

Q:

Burner Ignition not sparking

A:

Good morning... I can fully understand your concern regarding this issue. It would be very helpful if you could include your full model number. Remember that you will still be in full warranty if you bought it only six months ago. I did locate a link that will discuss this situation in greater detail. Though this link discusses a different model number, the mechanics are likely going to be very similar. Keep in mind that an expert will be responding within the next two business days if not sooner and will likely offer you more information and instruction. I hope this link will help guide you as to what might be wrong with your range and have a nice day.

Thank you Henry. I was going by the number on the manual. I found the actual model number (well hidden) and it is 790 72903014 If my range is still under warranty, should I just call for repair?

Since you cleaned the burner head and the area around the igniter electrode, the range will probably need service to correct this problem. You can schedule service by calling Sears at 1-800-469-4663 (1-800-4MY-HOME). An agent at that number may ask you to perform a few final troubleshooting steps and then will schedule service if necessary.

Here is a link for your owner's manual on that range in case you need it: Kenmore Gas Range Model 790.72903014 Owner's Manual.

If you need more help, let us know.
