Question and Answers

Q:

Microwave Kenmore model 721.89972590 not heating & turntable not turning either.

A:

Microwaves are so convenient. When they go out, everything slows down. The expert will be along to offer help. If you do decide to have an expert technician diagnose and repair, an option would be to visit Sears Home Services and use the handy scheduler. Good luck!

This type of diagnosis on this type of product should be performed by a qualified service technician ONLY . We do not advise the customer to remove the cover of their microwave oven due to safety reasons. I recommend calling for service on this item.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .

Thank you for your advice. Since we purchased it in 1996 & I've never used the convection part, I believe we could buy a new one for the cost to repair it. I am used to the size: outer15H 22 1/4W 19 13/16D; inside 10 3/16H 14 9/16W 14 11/16D; 12 amps, 1400 watts. Could you recommend a comparable micro w/o convection? Also, what brands are best, last longest, perform well, cost efficient to use & buy, etc.? We had $$ when we purchased this one, but not now! Obviously, I know nothing about this or what to look for. Any advice you could give me will be most appreciated. Thank you!

On something like this I recommend checking “consumer reports” magazine or going on line to [www.sears.com] to see what is available for your specific needs. Most advertised products will have customer reviews & specifications for you to read & help you decide. I usually purchase the least expensive model without all the bells & whistles to try & avoid future problems. Please click on the link below to go directly to the microwave ovens available at Sears.
