Q:

how do I replace the heater in my kenmore microwave hood. model #721.81629600 part # 530081a002a

A:

Thank you for contacting SearsPartsDirect.com with your questions about your Microwave. I am so sorry to hear that the microwave has stopped working. I know what a time saver the microwave can be and how inconvenient it is when it isn't working.                                                          I can appreciate wanting to diagnose and repair the microwave yourself, however I strongly recommend against it. We do not give repair information on microwave ovens because they are inherently dangerous to service. Microwaves contain high voltage internal components that can retain a lethal electrical charge even when the microwave is completely unplugged. You need special equipment to work on a microwave starting with an anti-static wrist strap grounded to the microwave to even test components in it. Even minor door repairs and adjustments can cause microwave leakage, and a microwave shielding leakage test MUST be performed using a survey meter after any microwave service. For these safety reasons I strongly recommend having this repair completed by a qualified service technician. You can schedule service online at www.SearsHomeServices.com or by calling 1-800-4-MY-HOME(1-800-469-4663). Here at SearsPartsDirect.com we love to help you with your repairs, but our expert advice is that microwaves are just too dangerous for a do-it-yourself project.  Thank you for your understanding in this matter and I hope we can help you with any other questions and repairs in the future. Thank you for choosing Sears.

Q:

How do I replace the heater elements in my microwave for the grilling feature?

A:

How do I replace the heater elements in my microwave for the grilling feature ?

Replacing the heater tubes are an internal component repair that should only be performed by a service technician. This is not a repair that you should attempt yourself. Internal capacitors inside the microwave can retain an electrical charge of 10,000 Volts, even when the unit is unplugged. A microwave radiation leakage test must be properly performed on the unit following any internal component repair. I recommend calling a service technician to replace this part.
