Installation Instruction for controller board 6871W1A454A 72180822500 Kenmore Elite Microwave

Q:

Fault code on display 72180822500 Kenmore Elite Microwave

A:

Thank you for choosing SearsPartsDirect. I know how much a time saver a microwave is and know you want to get it working quickly. In this case, I would suggest you have a qualified technician test or replace the unit.

Unfortunately, we cannot give advice on repairing or troubleshooting the microwave because they contain high voltage internal components that can retain lethal electrical charge even when the microwave is off. So for safety reasons I would recommend having this repair done by a qualified technician. You can schedule service at www.Searshomeservices.com

Thank you for your understanding on the situation. Have a great day.

Thank you for submitting your question. The F5 error code is indicates the control board senses a failure in the damper switch. Microwaves contain high-voltage components that can retain a lethal electrical charge of up to 2200 VAC -- even when the microwave is unplugged. Repairs and adjustments, even minor ones such as door removals, can cause microwave leakage. A microwave shielding leakage test should be performed after any microwave service. Its for these reasons that I do not recommend microwaves as a do-it-yourself repair. I recommend scheduling for service to have a qualified technician come out and perform this repair. You can schedule for service online with our Sears Home Services team. Thank you for using Manage My Life.
