Question and Answers

Q:

712.67600 microwave door hard to open 72167600790 Kenmore Microwave oven

A:

Thanks for using ManageMyLife.com

I am sorry, but we do not give repair information on microwave ovens because they are inherently dangerous to service. Microwaves contain high voltage internal components that can retain a lethal electrical charge even when the microwave is completely unplugged. Door repairs and adjustments, even minor ones, can cause microwave leakage, and a microwave shielding leakage test must be performed using a survey meter after any microwave service. That's why I strongly warn you to have this repair handled only by a qualified service technician. You can schedule service online with Sears Home Services or by calling 1-800-4-MY-HOME.
Normally at ManageMyLife.com we like to help you with all of your repairs, but our expert advice is that microwaves are just too dangerous.

Thanks for using ManageMyLife.com

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

The failure is likely something simple but you will need to call a service technician to properly diagnose and repair your microwave.

To have a service technician come out and diagnose and repair it will likely cost more than it would to replace the microwave. I added a link to Sears.com where you can shop and compare prices of the new over the range microwaves.

Microwaves contain high-voltage components that can retain a lethal electrical charge of up to 2200 VAC -- even when the microwave is unplugged. Repairs and adjustments, even minor ones such as replacing fuses, can cause microwave leakage. A microwave shielding leakage test should be performed after any microwave service.

It is for these safety reasons that we are unable to guide you in microwave repairs and instead recommend scheduling service with a qualified service technician.

You can schedule service online with Sears Home Services or by calling 1-800-4-MY-HOME.

We thank you for your understanding in this matter and hope we can help you with other questions and repairs in the future.

This is Doug, the original poster with the microwave problem. Joey S. stated that it would cost more to have a technician come out, diagnose and repair the microwave than it would to replace it. How about if I took it myself to a Sears Repair center? There's one in the city where I live.
