Question and Answers

Q:

Kenmore microwave 721.6523400 magnetron

A:

I understand you are experiencing difficulties with your Microwave. Microwaves contain high voltage internal components that can retain a lethal electrical charge even when the microwave is completely unplugged. Door repairs and adjustments, even minor ones, can cause microwave leakage and a microwave shielding leakage test must be performed using a survey meter after any microwave service. This repair should be done only by a qualified service technician. I have provided a link To Sears Home Services if you decide to schedule service. It may be cost effective to just replace the unit, I have also provided a link to the Microwave section of Sears.com to price out what a replacement would cost.

I have discharged the capacitor. There is no longer high voltage. I just need to attach the wires to the magnetron and replace the cover. I have contacted Sear's. They will not give me any info. I am not going to pay a tech to come and plug in two wires. For what that will cost I can go to Walmart and purchase a new MW. I do not need a new one. I just need to know where the wires attach on the magnetron.

Hello James. I understand you have discharged that capacitor and that you are comfortable with repairing that microwave but we do not provide technical advice regarding microwave through this website. Other websites that do provide that type of advice on microwaves are available. You may be able to find the information that you need through a web search. If you do complete that repair, I recommend that you properly test the microwave for leakage using a proper RF meter. I apologize that we cannot assist you with that repair. We will provide detailed repair help on just about any other appliance. I encourage you to visit us again if you need help with any other appliance problems.
