Question and Answers

Q:

kenmore elite microwave model # 721-63664300 721-63664300

A:

Thanks for the inquiry and for using SearsPartsDirect.com. I am sorry to hear of the F4 error code you're receiving on the microwave, I know how frustrating that is to have occur.

The F-4 indicates a failure in the humidity sensor in the microwave. This is normally caused by a failed sensor. In rare instances, it can be caused by a failed control board. Since this is an internal microwave component failure, I recommend calling a service technician to diagnose and repair the microwave.

Any microwave repair that involves accessing internal components must be performed by a service technician. Capacitors inside the microwave cabinet can retain an electrical charge even when the unit is unplugged. A microwave radiation leakage test must be performed using proper testing equipment before the microwave can be safely returned to service.

Let me know if I can be of any further assistance and thanks for using SearsPartsDirect.com.

Q:

Why is my Microwave is not heating food?

A:

Thanks for using ManageMyLife.com

I am sorry, but we do not give repair information on microwave ovens because they are inherently dangerous to service. Microwaves contain high voltage internal components that can retain a lethal electrical charge even when the microwave is completely unplugged. Door repairs and adjustments, even minor ones, can cause microwave leakage, and a microwave shielding leakage test must be performed using a survey meter after any microwave service. That's why I strongly warn you to have this repair handled only by a qualified service technician. You can schedule service online with Sears Home Services or by calling 1-800-4-MY-HOME.
Normally at ManageMyLife.com we like to help you with all of your repairs, but our expert advice is that microwaves are just too dangerous.

Thanks for using ManageMyLife.com

Thank you for your question. The F9 error code indicates an inverter failure. This can sometimes by caused by a power surge or glitch through the electrical lines. You can sometimes clear this fault by completely unplugging the microwave for 1 minute. Plug it back in and see if the fault code returns. If it does, then you have an internal component failure that will need to be serviced by a technician. Due to the inherent dangers involved in repairing microwaves it is strongly recommend that a service technician service the microwave. Internal capacitors can retain a lethal electrical charge even though the unit is completely unplugged. A microwave radiation leakage test must be performed on the unit following any internal component repair.

We will give repair instructions on any other appliance that a customer can safely handle.

You can have the microwave repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .
