Q:

Kenore Spacemaster Recipe 300 Microwave Hood Combo

A:

I know how important it is to have as much useful information about your appliance as possible so that it is easier to find replacement parts and part numbers. While you are waiting for an expert answer, I did manage to find a link in where you can enter your model number and the owners manual from the Manage My Life website. Hope this helps!

Thank you very much. The link you supplied sent me to a manual with 4 model numbers on it. Model # 721.63652 snet me to Model # 721.63652300 that contained diagrams similar to, but not exactly the same as, my model oven. The diagrams led me to where to finf the fuse behind the control panel and the fuse was definitly blown. I replaced it and the oven works fine now. If it blows again then there are some underlying problems not just an old original equipment fuse.

Thank you for your question on the Micro-hood combo.

All that I can find is a microwave Spacemaster filters with that number. It is listed as a microwave accessory.

I am glad that you got the microwave working by replacing the fuse.

Do you know the possible age of this micro-hood?

And is there any part of the model number that is legible?

This appears to be a quite old microwave and we are limited to how we can help you on microwaves.

I am sorry, but we do not give repair information on microwave ovens because they are inherently dangerous to service. Microwaves contain high voltage internal components that can retain a lethal electrical charge even when the microwave is completely unplugged. Door repairs and adjustments, even minor ones, can cause microwave leakage, and a microwave shielding leakage test must be preformed using a survey meter after any microwave service. That's why I strongly warn you to have this repair handled only by a qualified service technician. You can schedule service online with Sears Home Services or by calling 1-800-4MY-HOME.

Normally at Manage My Life.com we like to help you with all of your repairs, but our expert advice is that microwaves are just too dangerous.

Thank you for your response. The oven must be about 25 years old. We bought it when it was the largest oven capacity over head available at the time. The model number is completely gone. The Serial is #3V7324436. The Mfr is #564W. The oven has worked perfectly and is doing so again. What a great product. I recognize the warning you offered and was very cautious about not touching any component beyound replacing the fuse. If it had been more complicated than that I definitely would have called a technician. I also was very careful not to disturb the integrety of the oven enclosure. I work with Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) laboratories, am familiar with shielding and and have a radar system background so I am somewhat familiar with what i was looking at. So for all of you that might read this, even witrh my background i would and will call a trained technician if the fuse blows again which would be evidence that there is a problem with a component in the oven.

If the microwave is completely dead, I recommend that you check the electrical outlet first (if you have not already checked this issue). Plug a small lamp or appliance into the outlet to see if it is working. If not, I recommend that you check the house breaker or fuse for that outlet. This may fix your problem.

If the outlet is working then you could have an internal fuse blown in the microwave but the internal fuses are components that should only be accessed and replaced by a service technician. There is likely a component problem that caused the fuse to blow. Microwaves are inherently dangerous to service. High voltage components can retain a lethal electrical charge even when the microwave is completely unplugged. A microwave radiation leakage test must be performed on the unit following any internal component access and/or repair. These are the reasons that I recommend that you have a service technician diagnose and repair a blown fuse in a microwave.

Here is a link for the Sears Service website: Sears Home Services .

NOTE: It is often more economical to replace the microwave instead of repairing it.
