Q:

Why is my Kenmore microwave sparking inside?

A:

You did indicate where exactly you are seeing the arcing/sparks. Sparking can be caused by carbonized food splatters or when metal is touching the inner walls. The arcing could also be from the wave guide area too. If the arcing is emitting from behind any grills or covers then it may be time to replace the microwave.

Try cleaning the area of any burnt food and see if still sparks. NOTE: Be sure to place a glass of water when testing. DO NOT run the microwave with nothing in it when testing. If the sparking continues, stop using the microwave. I recommend taking the unit if for repair or replace it. You can likely replace it for less that it would cost to have it repaired.

I recommend resubmitting your question with the model number and additional details for further assistance if needed.
