Q:

Sears Craftsman Router Crafter 9 2525

A:

Thank you for contacting SearsPartsDirect.com with your questions about your 1970’s Craftsman Router Crafter. I think it is great that you want the right manual for your product. Most times we cannot convince people of the importance of holding on to the manual. I will be happy to help you with this.

The number 9 2525 that you see on the box is actually the number to order that router. It is a stock number, lets the warehouse know where the box was stored in the warehouse. Unfortunately it is not the model number of the router. The model number is what we use to find the parts that are guaranteed to fit that model. It also helps us locate the owner’s manual for it. The model number for the router will have 3 numbers, a period and then 6 to 8 more numbers. This is the number we need to determine if the manual you saw online will apply to your router. This longer model number is always on the router itself. If you will respond to this thread with the model number off of the router, we will be happy to verify if the manual located will apply to your router.

I look forward to your reply. If I can be of further assistance please respond to this thread. Thank you for choosing Sears, we appreciate your business.

Thank you, but this is NOT a router - it is what Sears calls a "router crafter" - it is actually a long bracket or guide to mount the router on so one can copy and carve out stair railings or small posts - the model number on my unit is #720 25250 - my unit look exactly like the one pictured in your manual for #720.25251 - just wondering if this manual applies to mine. Thanks again for your help.

Thank you for your quick response. I apologize I left the word crafter out of my response. The main information I was looking for was the 720 in front of the 2525 number. That means your router crafter was made by the manufacturer that published the manual you saw online. The model 720.25250 was the first production of this router crafter. Every time the manufacturer makes a change to parts from one production to the next, they increase the last number by 1. The 720.25251 means the manufacturer has made a change to one or more parts to the second production of this product. When I researched your model the part number for the manual has been substituted to the manual for the 720.25251. This means any changes made to the crafter will apply to your model also.

I have included the link to get you back to the updated manual.

I hope this answers your questions. And I apologize again for referring to the crafter as a router. Please let me know if there is anything else I can do for you. Thank you again for choosing Sears. Have a great day!
