more observations - at this point it appears to be related to when the main flame turns on.. e.g.: 1 - a short time after using hot water in the morning 2 - hear it sometimes with all water in the house off The frequency of the noise might be close to 60Hz. This is why I don't think it is water hammer.

I guess so far no MML experts are able to reply. More testing, seems to confirm that the vibration sound is connected to when the main flame comes on. I'm going to continue testing to see if the sound can be connected to more specific situations.

I know that it is very frustrating to have problems with your new water heater. I would suggest that you stop testing it. It is covered under warranty and you can void that by trying to fix this yourself. Please schedule a service technician to diagnose and repair it. Most likely the humming is coming from the gas pressure coming into the heater. That is why it stops after the flame is lit. This will cycle whether or not any water has been turned on.

If you need further assistance, please reply to this thread. Thank you for using Manage My Life.

Dear Expert AnneJ, I think you are correct, has to do with the gas supply or gas valve in the water heater. All I've been doing is observing, not attempting any adjustment or repair myself. Thanks for your answer. I'll schedule service. -Henry

final results - repair person came and knew about this issue, as it was explained via wife there is a bracket that vibrates. Not sure what he did, maybe just reach in and bent the bracket. In any case it is fixed. on another but probably connected subject - I'm now getting various people/ companies calling the house at late and other hours asking if I want to buy appliance insurance and asking how old my house and appliances are.... Since the only appliance related activities lately have been with this site I guess these people got the info. here. I don't like this and consider it harassment and an invasion of privacy. Please don't contact me . I don't want appliance insurance even if it is free, I don't want it even if you pay me to give to me. I just wanted my new water heater fixed under warranty. I'm happy it was fixed, I'm not happy to now be on a harassing phone sales call list.

"Limited" could be a key word, if the issue is the same as what I had and the fixit person knows about it, should be an easy fix... Tell them you are OK paying $69 for someone to come and fix it not just look at it. How old is your wh? My heater was new, just a few weeks old.

Q:

Kenmore oven not working. Broil nor bake. Elements don't appear to have blown.

A:

It can be upsetting when a newer appliance develops problems. A suggestion I have is to check the troubleshooting guide in the owner's manual. I attached the link to your model below. I also found a similar question and attached the link below. The expert will provide a more specific answer to your model but this may help while you wait.

Since the top elements are working we can be sure the voltage coming to the range is ok.

For both elements to stop working at the same time the oven control can be bad. Another possibility is a burned or broken wire to the elements.

I would disconnect the power to the range and pull it away from the wall. Remove the covers on the rear of the cabinet so you can see the wires to the control and the elements. Inspect the wires to be sure one is not disconnected. The orange wire from the control to both the bake and broil elements would be a likely candidate.

If the wires are ok, I would replace the control. The part number I get for the control is 316455420 and the price is $69.95.
