This unit has a control board which controls the defrost cycle.  It will adjust or adapt the defrost time depending on how long the compressor has run.   The instructions in the image below tell how to put the control into a test mode which will power up the element.

The warranty has been extended to 3 years to cover this issue for units that apply. The unit will need the light socket and the main control board replaced to correct the problem. Please contact our repair team and ask to be transferred to our Rework Customer Care team.
