I have been there and if I replaced the transaxle with all the parts listed it would cost more than what I paid for the mower. I really don't want to do the work and was looking to see what it would cost me to have them come out and repair it. We used to have a repair center here, but now they only repair small mowers. If it costs too much I am not going to take a chance with another one but will check consumer reports and check out their recommendations. Thank you for the response....

I have been browsing and saw where one person said that a tech from Sears said that they do not repair the transaxle. They will only replace it. Mine is the same as his the DANA D6800-1.

I have a feeling your local repair shop is mistaking something. This transmission has been used in Craftsman tractors for many years and they are almost trouble free. What happened with yours sounds like a bit of an odd problem but how you described it does make sense. I have seen the chain get caught and come through the case before, so it’s not unheard of; just not common at all.

The price of the transmission is going to be around $350-$400 (pt number: 402723). We do not deal with labor where I work so I cannot even begin to guess at what labor would run. The same would be said for repairing it. We just don’t deal with things on that end so I cannot be of service to you in that way.

I’m really sorry this happened right after your warranty period ended. If there is anything we can do for you on our end, we certainly will.

Thank You Very Much for the information you provided. I will check the part number and probably order one and install it myself. it looks as if it would be easy to install the entire transaxle if it already comes in a complete package.....

If you replace the transaxle I would replace it with the peerless 206-545C transaxle . It has better parts availability . The price of it $228.39 part number 794691 . You will also need part number 197857 shift arm to convert to the peerless transaxle ($2.16) . Also you may need 2 spacers 137057 ($2.91 each) but these spacers are not needed and can be made from 3/4 inch pvc pipe .

I should have been clearer about the spacers , they go around the axle shaft between the wheel and the transaxle case and keep grass etc from winding around the axle . The d6800 has a longer case that goes all the way to the wheel so no spacers are used.

I'm afraid I do not have a tech sheet or troubleshooting manual for that model. I believe that error code may be an issue with the speed sensor but I cannot be sure.

I recommend you contact Schwinn at 1-800-605-3369 or email them at customerservice@schwinnfitness.com to see if they can help you get this worked out.
